Local Manufacturer – Gland Packing
Gland Packing is a seal used in pumps to stop leakage and to act as a lubricating agent to the pump shaft. It is used in all types of pumps such as, water, steam, acid and slurry etc. The installed capacity is 5000kg per month of Packing of various commonly used sizes ranging 6mm to 25mm.
Depending upon the type of pump and the temperature at which the pumps are operated, the yarn to manufacture gland packing is selected accordingly. Various types of Gland Packing, for different applications, can then be produced.

With the world wide restrictions on the usage of asbestos, gland packing manufactured by Industrial Equipment Limited is made out of non-asbestos yarn from Lenzing Plastics of Austria, who are among the world renowned quality manufacturers of yarn.
Some of the gland packing we manufacture which is recommended for use at the mines is listed below:
1.LENZING PTFE PACKING YARN STYLE 623 (PTFE-IMPREGNATED, LUBRICATED YARN) Suitable for Strong Acid and other Chemicals, conditions.
Properties: Pressure 50 Bar, Temp -200 +280C, Ph. range 0 – 14, v 8m/sec
2.LENZING PTFE PACKING YARN STYLE 723 (PTFE-IMPREGNATED, LUBRICATED AND GRAPHITED YARN). Suitable for High Speed and Strong Acid conditions.
Properties: Pressure 50 Bar, Temp -200+280C, Ph. range 0 – 14, v 25m/sec
3.LENZING PTFE PACKING YARN STYLE 726A (PTFE-IMPREGNATED, LUBRICATED AND GRAPHITED YARN WITH ARAMID ADDITION). Suitable for High Speed, Strong Acid and Abrasive conditions.
Properties: Pressure 30 Bar, Temp -200+280C, Ph. range 0 – 14, v 25m/sec
- LENZING PTFE PACKING YARN STYLE P84 (POLYMER YARN). This packing has gained the reputation as the best substitute for Blue Asbestos in applications whereby pure PTFE packing does not quite meet the mechanical strength requirement.
The outstanding properties of this material are:
- High thermo stability
- Excellent chemical resistance particularly in acidic media
- Excellent resistance to organic solvents, oil and fuels
- High dimensional stability and excellent pressure resistance even at elevated temperatures
- Excellent flexibility – minimum shaft wear
Properties: Pressure 7 Bar, Temp -200+280C, Ph. range 0 – 12, v 8m/sec

6. TEIJIN HIGH TENSILE ARAMID PACKING YARN (PTFE-IMPREGNATED AND LUBRICATED ARAMID FILAMENT YARN). Suitable for High Speed, Strong Acid and Abrasive conditions.
Properties: Pressure 50 Bar, Temp -40 +260C, Ph. range 2 – 12, V 12m/sec.
The list indicated above is only illustrative and not exhaustive. The company is able to produce any type of square braided packing to suit the particular usage in sizes of 6mm to 25mm.
